Frequently asked questions

I. Registration and Cancellation

Do I need a kitchen?

No, you can register as an individual, even without a kitchen. Teams absolutely need a kitchen. If you register without your own kitchen and not enough individuals register with their own kitchen, it may happen that we have to send you a cancellation. If this is foreseeable, we will send you an info as early as possible, so that you are usually not informed about this case only 2 days before the event. Instead of an apartment, you can of course also host your guests in an office or a garden shed, as long as the location is accessible for guests. You can indicate when registering as an individual if you would like to make your kitchen available only in case of emergency, then we will try to assign you to a team partner with a kitchen and use your kitchen only if too few people register.

Do I need a team partner?

No, you can also register as an individual. We will then assign you a person as a team partner who is as similar in age as possible and lives near you. You can also specify the gender of your team partner.

Who can participate?

Basically, everyone who is at least 18 years old and has time to participate in the event can register. You should also allow time for preparation on the day of the event.

Can I cancel my registration?

If you are unable to attend, it is very important that you cancel in any case, so that we can take this into account in the planning! You can therefore cancel free of charge up to 4 days before the event. For cancellations up to 24 hours before the event you will get 50% of the fees back. After that no refund is possible. For early bird tickets, other cancellation rules may apply, which will be displayed in the booking process.

II. Procedure

When will I know who my team partner is?

If you have not signed up with a permanent team partner, you will receive your team partner's contact information along with your gear assignment.

How does the event work?

Before the event you will receive your schedule with an info for which course your team is responsible as host and where and when you will be guest for the other courses. After that you should agree in the team what you want to cook and plan the preparation. If necessary, you can meet in the afternoon of the day of the event to prepare everything. On the evening of the event, follow the schedule that was sent to you. Afterwards you can go to the after party.

When will I be informed which course my team is responsible for?

You will receive this info at least 36 hours before the start of the starter or the morning of the day before the event.

When will I receive my schedule?

You will also receive the addresses and times for the other courses no later than 36 hours or the morning of the day before the event.

How much time should I allow for the event in total?

You can find out when the first course starts on the event or registration page. In addition, you should plan time for the preparation of your walk. When and how exactly you prepare is up to you as a team.

How is it decided which team prepares which course?

This is determined through a draw, based on the stated preferences and distances between the registered apartments, a process which we manage.

What happens after dessert?

Nach dem Dessert gibt es in der Regel ein Treffen in einer Bar oder eine After-Dinner-Party an einem zentralen Ort. Dort kannst Du begonnene Gespräche fortsetzen und weitere Teams kennenlernen.

III. Being a guest

What if I can't or don't want to eat everything or have a food allergy?

If you indicate this at the time of registration, we will relay this information to your hosts so they can accommodate accordingly.

Do I have to be a good cook?

No, it's more about the fun and socializing than perfect cooking skills!

IV. Being a Host

Do I need my own apartment or kitchen to participate?

What if the apartment is somewhat on the outskirts?

Register anyway, because we take the driving times into account when planning. If no suitable route can be found, we will try to plan a route where you are only a guest and not a host. If in exceptional cases it is foreseeable that your apartment is too far outside and no solution can be found for you, we will contact you.

How many guests will I receive?

As a rule, 3 teams with 2 members each meet at each course. In exceptional cases, however, there may be more than six people, which is why we ask you at the time of registration how many people you can receive at most. You will find out the exact number of guests with the course assignment.

What do I do if my apartment is small and doesn't have a big dining table?

Being a good host doesn't necessitate having a large apartment. A desk can be used as a dining table, and the bed can be used as seating. And finger food on the living room couch can make for a great meal.

Who covers the cost of food and beverages?

Each team is responsible for the cost of ingredients and drinks for their own course. For this, each team is also host only once and guest twice.

What should I cook?

Essentially, you are free to choose the recipe. However, it would be considerate of your guests to take into account any dietary restrictions when choosing the recipe. You will learn about any dietary restrictions your guests have when your course is assigned.

V. Transfers

Do I need a car or a bicycle?

No, we plan with the travel times of bus and train

How much time do I have to change locations between courses?

We plan enough time for changes between courses.

What if I am late?

If you are more than 20 minutes late as a guest or more than 10 minutes late as a host, please report to the emergency contact so that we can inform your guests or hosts.

VI. Further questions

Is there an emergency contact if you have problems or questions during the event?

Yes, we make sure that all participants have a contact number to call in case of emergency.
